Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive during booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Grantham Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, with potential extra charges for those under 25. A valid full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit must also be provided. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Grantham office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify and report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be documented and signed to confirm the state of the vehicle. It is expected that the vehicle be returned in the same condition as it was received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the tank is not adequately filled. Please be aware that late returns may result in extra charges, so contact us promptly if you anticipate delays. You are responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during your rental, along with an applicable administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Full details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options closely. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless further coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice given. For precise details, please refer to your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional fees.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle may not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky endeavors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must be used only for its intended purposes, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Operating outside the designated geographical area requires prior consent.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Grantham is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for your rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
10. Terms Modifications
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being published on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
