Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or upon collecting your vehicle. This document outlines important terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Grantham Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although specific age restrictions may apply depending on the vehicle type. A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit are necessary, and any additional requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Grantham office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All listed prices are in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. We will complete a vehicle condition report that both parties will sign for reference. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as received, allowing only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional fees. Ensure the vehicle has the same fuel level upon return; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Any late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges accrued during your rental period, including a nominal administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Policies
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. You may choose to explore additional insurance options to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, except when covered by supplementary insurance. Liability for damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or a breach of these Terms remains yours, regardless of any insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up could incur charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous practices is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle to others is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Additionally, do not exceed the specified passenger or weight limits or drive outside designated geographical boundaries without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Grantham will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be capped at the amount you paid for your rental in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are published on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your agreement to the revised Terms.
